"I think it was very powerful to hear that the HOA was in favor of it and that the developer was working with them. So, it should be a harmonious project."
BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY)-The Town of Leland held a planning board meeting Tuesday night. One item on the agenda was to discuss the rezoning district application for a mixed-use development.
The site plan will build over 31.5 acres of land beside the Mallory Creek Plantation.
The site will be occupied by 127 townhomes, built amenity areas, multi-use pathways, and a commercial node for restaurant space, retail, and office space. Tuesday night, the planning board decided to approve the rezoning for its next steps. Alan Kerry, chairman of the Town of Leland's Planning Board, says this will benefit Leland residents and those who live in Mallory Creek Plantation.
"For the residents of Mallory Creek, will have the greatest impact for them. I think it was very powerful to hear that the HOA was in favor of it and that the developer was working with them. So, it should be a harmonious project," Kerry said.
Kerry says the next step for the rezoning application is to go before the town council for approval.
