Drone used in arrest at Greenville restaurant, police say

A broken window, a drone, and a Greenville police K-9, led to the arrest of a man caught in the middle of a burglary, police said Thursday. The Greenville Police Department said officers were conducting what they call "proactive patrolling" about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when they discovered a broken window at the Sonic restaurant, at 954 N. Pleasantburg Drive. One officer heard two people talking in the back of the building, according to police. They said officers called out several times to come out of the building, but they refused. Officers used a drone to try to find where the people involved were, but that effort was limited due to closed doors, police said. When the individuals continued to refuse to come out of the building, officers used a K-9 that quickly found the suspects hiding inside the building, police said. Sergeant Diana Munoz said Robert Pilgrim, 61, was arrested. He was charged with unlawful occupancy, interfering with police, and trespassing after notice, according to the Greenville County Detention Center website.
