Predators deliver rare OT victory

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nick Blankenburg scored at 1:03 of overtime to help the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

The Predators, who escaped the Central Division basement by a point over Chicago, won for the just the second time in nine overtime games.

Zachary L'Heureux and Jonathan Marchessault also scored, and Justus Annunen made 22 saves for Nashville. Annunen, who was acquired from Colorado in a Nov. 30 trade, improved to 2-1-0 in three games with the Predators.

Quinton Byfield and Alex Laferriere scored, and Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for the Kings, who are 8-1-2 in their last 11 games.

OILERS 3, SHARKS 2 (OT): Edmonton forced overtime on Mattias Ekholm's goal with 18 seconds to play, then beat visiting San Jose when Leon Draisaitl scored 18 seconds into the extra session. Connor McDavid had three assists.

FLAMES 6, BLACKHAWKS 4: Jonathan Huberdeau, Connor Zary, Blake Coleman, and Matt Coronato each had a goal and an assist in Calgary's home victory over Chicago.

DEVILS 3, PENGUINS 0: Nico Hischier had a goal and two assists, and Jacob Markstrom made 12 saves for his second shutout of the season as New Jersey beat visiting Pittsburgh. The 34-year-old Markstrom, who joined New Jersey in a trade from Calgary in June, earned the 22nd shutout of his career.

BRUINS 3, SABRES 1: Morgan Geekie scored a tiebreaking, power-play goal with 1:45 left in regulation as host Boston sent Buffalo to its 13th straight loss (010-3). The Sabres haven't won since Nov. 23.

iSLANDERS 6, MAPLE LEAFS 3: Bo Horvat had two goals and an assist, Isaiah George scored his first NHL goal, and New York won in Toronto. Maxim Tsyplakov, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mathew Barzal also scored, and Ilya Sorokin stopped 27 shots.

JETS 5, WILD 0: Connor Hellebuyck made 19 saves for his NHL-leading fourth shutout of the season as Winnipeg handed visiting Minnesota its fourth straight loss.

CANADIENS 5, RED WINGS 1: Patrik Laine scored on the power play again, and host Montreal beat Detroit for the second straight night.

FLYERS 5, BLUE JACKETS 4 (OT): Owen Tippett scored at 3:30 of overtime to complete Philadelphia's comeback win over visiting Columbus.

SENATORS 5, CANUCKS 4 (OT): Jake Sanderson scored 13 seconds into overtime to lead Ottawa over host Vancouver.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS 6, KRAKEN 2: Mark Stone had a goal and two assists, and Vegas defeated Seattle at home.
