A former longtime club that was known for years for its line dancing and nightlife is up for auction.

The Skyline Club, which for decades has been located at 100 Lee St. in West Columbia, not far from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, is being auctioned, per online postings from the Auction Management Corporation. That company manages and promotes commercial and residential auctions for various entities.

"Conveniently located near the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, this iconic nightclub is ready for use with tables, chairs, vintage neon lighting, and a small but fully functioning kitchen," the Auction Management listing for the Skyline Club reads. "There are six bars and a large seating area to accommodate a crowd. There is also outdoor seating in 'the corral,' with a small stage and a bar."

The property also includes a main stage with professional sound and lighting, a DJ booth, offices, a "green room" for performers, a walk-in cooler and more.

The auction for the Skyline is online and is open now. It will close on Jan. 30. The club building is more than 14,000 square feet, and the total amount of property on offer is nearly 4 acres.

The Skyline Club was long known as a nightspot for country and western music fans and boasts a spacious dance floor, which was often occupied by line dancers. The Skyline would even sometimes offer line dancing lessons. The club closed in late 2023. Some of the performers who played there in 2023 included Colt Ford and Bucky Covington.

The property dates back to the World War II era, as noted by the Auction Management Corporation listing.

"During WWII, this property and the surrounding area were used by Doolittle's Raiders as their training and staging area," the listing notes. "Shortly after the war, it was converted and opened as the Skyline Supper Club, which then became the Southeast's most iconic nightclub known as the Skyline Club. It is a gigantic nightclub best known for its huge dance floor and live music; many renowned national artists have performed there."

The building has an occupancy of 900 people and there are about two acres for parking, the auction listing notes. It's located just east of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport property, and about a mile-and-a-half north of Interstate 26.
