Free soft drinks are being offered to designated drivers in a town in an attempt to reduce drink driving.

A number of venues in Kettering, Northamptonshire are taking part in The Driver Scheme, which runs until 4 January 2025.

It has been organised by Kettering Pub Watch with support from the town council.

Councillor Clark Mitchell said: "This is a great way of being able to thank the designated drivers and give them something back at Christmas."

Posters promoting the scheme have been put up in participating venues, including The Peacock, The Stitching Pony, Kino Lounge, The Rising Sun, Aura Bar and The Sound Bar.

Sound Bar owner Sanjai Tailor said: "Myself and other members of Pub Watch decided to collaborate with the council to provide this scheme to promote safety in the town.

"It doesn't always have to be about the alcohol to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the night.

"It promotes a nice environment to go out in and it saves people money."
