BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) -- Vehicle response teams at the North Dakota/Canada border have seen a major uptick in illegal crossings over the recent months, including two separate incidents that led to the apprehension of ten people who tried to cross illegally.
According to a Facebook post from the US Border Patrol's Grand Forks Sector, on November 9, agents in Pembina were able to intercept a vehicle containing eight Romanian citizens that attempted to illegally cross the Canada/North Dakota border in a pickup truck. In a separate incident agents also located two more Romanian citizens hiding near the border.
Another post from the Border Patrol states that since October 1st of 2024, the Pembina station encountered and seized ten illegal vehicles -- a massive amount compared to recent times. With this increase, the US Border Patrol would like to remind communities that they can help by reporting any suspicious vehicle activity they see on or near the border.
