The ranks of Houston's professional sports teams continue to grow with the introduction of the city's own professional women's volleyball team as part of League One Volleyball.

LOVB Pro begins its inaugural season this year with teams in six cities: Houston, Austin, Madison, Atlanta, Omaha, and Salt Lake City.

The teams will play matches over a 14-week period, culminating in a final series in Louisville, KY in April.

LOVB Houston's first match takes place on Thursday, January 9th at the Fort Bend County Epicenter in Rosenberg, TX at 7 PM. The match will also stream live on ESPN+.

In the audio above, Houston Matters producer Joshua Zinn meets with head coach Massimo Barbolini, assistant coach Paula Weissoff, and founding athletes Jordan Thompson and Micha Hancock.
