UFC legend Chris Weidman chokes his friend unconscious as they settle $5,000 poker debt

Former UFC champion Chris Weidman gave one of his friends a unique ultimatum over a $5,000 gambling debt.

Chris Weidman won't back down from an eventual return to the UFC Octagon, despite recent calls for him to retire after a loss at UFC 310. It's nothing new for the 40-year-old Weidman after several rocky performances since recovering from a nasty leg injury suffered against Uriah Hall at UFC 261.

As Weidman plots a UFC comeback, against a to-be-determined opponent, he's enjoying some time away from fighting to rest and recover. But in or out of the cage, if Weidman gets to your back, you're in a precarious situation.

After one of Weidman's friends took a massive loss during poker night, the former UFC champion gave his friend two options. He could either pay off the full $5,000 poker debt or agree to be choked unconscious with Weidman on his back.

Despite the obvious health risks associated with choking someone out cold, Weidman's friend chose the latter option in an attempt to save himself some financial strife.

In a recent Instagram post, Weidman detailed what happened and shared footage of the option his friend decided on.

"He lost in poker last night. It was either pay 5k or get choked unconscious! What do you do?" Weidman posted.

Luckily, it appears Weidman's friend took the choke in stride and didn't suffer any lingering effects from the submission. But going forward, Weidman's friends could be wary of placing high-stakes bets while under the same roof.

Weidman is one of the most accomplished middleweights in UFC history with wins over the likes of Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort, and Lyoto Machida. He won the UFC middleweight title by pulling off one of MMA's all-time upsets over Silva at UFC 162.

Since making his professional MMA return at UFC 292, Weidman has lost two of his last three fights, including a TKO loss to Eryk Anders at UFC 310 earlier this month. His last win controversially came against Bruno Silva in March.

While Weidman's friend escaped a $5,000 debt, he wasn't able to escape the consequence of losing to the former UFC champ during poker night in the first place. Regardless of Weidman's recent struggles in the cage, he remains a dangerous man outside of it.
