SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - 9-years-old and mistaken for a robbery suspect.
FOX13 first told you about a mother's complaint a Southaven Police Officer pointed a stun-gun at her son.
Not only did Shaquita Wade talk to FOX13 about her son's encounter with an officer, she reached out to the Southaven Police Department.
Wednesday, Wade sent FOX13 a letter she received back from the city's Internal Affair's Bureau.
It said the bureau investigated her complaint and said:
"Based on a full review of all available evidence, it was determined that one of the allegations made against officer Nicholson McKenzie is sustained, and officer McKenzie is exonerated of the second allegation."
FOX13 don't know for which allegation the officer was found at fault in, or whether there will be any punishment because Mississippi keeps all personnel files secret, without a court order.
But the complaint involves 9-year-old Ahmar Anderson. He was getting out of his mother's car at the Civic Center West Apartments on November 7.
He said Officer McKenzie ran up to him on a stairway and pointed the stun-gun at him. "A cop saw me going up the stairs and he hopped out of his car, pulled out a gun and pointed it out me," Ahmar Anderson said.
The officer was searching for a robbery suspect, who was white. He quickly realized Ahmar was just a kid and not involved so the officer let him go.
But Wade said her son was left traumatized and filed that formal complaint against the officer.
