Here's The Eagle's athlete of the week honor roll for the week of Jan. 6-12.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
G Leilani Tagudin, Anderson-Shiro
Tagudin brought home the inaugural athlete of the week honors after a big-time performance in the Anderson-Shiro girls basketball team's 50-46 district win over New Waverly last week. The sophomore had a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds along with six steals and two assists.
District 23-3A action rolls on for the Lady Owls as they will host Trinity at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and will be at Crockett at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The multi-sport athlete had a lot of support in her corner as she received 45.64% of the vote with 1,161 of the 2,544 votes.
College Station boys basketball senior guard David Toussaint (16%, 407 votes) finished in second, while A&M Consolidated girls basketball freshman guard Camryn Wren (13.68%, 348 votes) was in third.

Bryan girls soccer junior forward/midfielder Maegan Landin (11.75%, 299 votes), Iola girls basketball junior guard Araya Fennell (8.49%, 216 votes) and Brazos Christian boys senior guard Brooks Thrift (4.44%, 113 votes) rounded out the poll.
OTHER NOMINEES FROM THE WEEK
Kayleigh Murphy, Bryan: The senior forward on the Bryan girls basketball team had a standout performance in last week's 53-51 overtime district win over Killeen Shoemaker. In 38 minutes played, Murphy had a double-double of 22 points and 22 rebounds along with two steals and four blocks.
Khia Byrd, Madisonville: Byrd, named, "the rebounding machine" by her coach, lived up to that billing once again last week in district play. The senior had 14 points and eight rebounds against Center and followed it up with 11 points and seven rebounds against Rusk.
Ava Fillio, Rudder: The 114-pound girls wrestler for Rudder had a dominant week on the mat. She went a perfect 8-0 combined in duals at the Bryan ISD vs. College Station ISD meet and the HC Memorial in Huntsville. All eight came via pins with seven of them coming in the first round for the first-year wrestler.
Carmelo Gilbert, Madisonville: The sophomore guard helped the Madisonville boys basketball team to a win in its district opener over Rusk. The Mustangs came away with a 64-48 road win last Friday in part thanks to Gilbert's 17 points and two steals.
Coaches and team statisticians can make nominations for athlete of the week by sending them to [email protected] by the end of the day on Saturday with relevant game stats from the past week. The nominees can be from any sport that is currently in-season.
