Of John Tonje's highlight moments from his first season with Wisconsin's basketball program, Tuesday's may take the cake.
With just under 12 minutes remaining in the second half of the Badgers' home contest vs. Ohio State, Tonje delivered arguably the play of the year.
Tonje drove baseline on Ohio State freshman Colin White after receiving a pass from forward Xavier Amos on the right wing. He turned acrobatically under the basket to throw down a thunderous reverse dunk over Buckeyes center Ivan Njegovan.
The dunk prompted a raucous response from a Kohl Center crowd. It provided the Badgers with a much-needed boost as they fended off an Ohio State second-half surge.
The bucket extended Wisconsin's lead to 13 at the time.
The Badgers held a 17-point edge over the Buckeyes at intermission thanks to swift free throw shooting (13-14) and double-digit scoring contributions from veteran center Steven Crowl and sophomore guard John Blackwell.
With a second half burst from Tonje, UW is on the verge of clinching its sixth consecutive victory.
