A suspected drunken driver struck patrol cars in East San Jose's Alum Rock neighborhood on Friday night, injuring police officers in the process, authorities said.
At about 10:24 p.m., near the corner of King Road and Burdette Drive, San Jose police officers were conducting a pedestrian stop when a driver believed to be under the influence crashed into two parked patrol vehicles. As a result of the collision, three officers outside the vehicles were struck by the vehicles, a San Jose Police Department spokesperson said via email.
The officers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail, though SJPD has yet to reveal the driver's specific charges.
In a Saturday afternoon social-media post about the incident, there were three photos: one of a silver sedan having apparently collided directly into a patrol car's back left tire; one of scratches on an officer's pants; and one of a Fire Police Medical vehicle arriving on the scene.
The caption reads, in part, "This holiday season, please remember that drunk or 'buzzed' driving is never okay. ... Let's keep everyone safe so that they can spend this holiday season with loved ones."
