Naomi and Bianca Belair defend the WWE women's tag team titles against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae
Naomi is not recognized as a WWE women's tag team champion but will defend the title on WWE SmackDown. Naomi replaces Jade Cargill, who is absent following a mysterious backstage assault last month, by teaming with Bianca Belair on Friday night.
Cargill's assailant has not been identified, but the women's tag team division must move on. Last week, Naomi offered to fill the void in a tag team title defense against WWE women's champion Nia Jax and Candice LeRae. It's one of two matches advertised in advance of Friday's show.
The men's tag team division will also be spotlighted, albeit in singles competition. Alex Shelley and Johnny Gargano collide in a meeting of former mentor and pupil. Longtime professional wrestling veteran Shelley made an immediate impact in WWE after the Motor City Machine Guns won the WWE tag team titles weeks after their debut. #DIY relieved them of the titles after Gargano betrayed his former friends with a low blow in their title match.
